The traveller’s dusty shoes

I know this feeling. The inevitable excitement, the feeling that only something good can come from here. I started packing for my trip to Cochin. It was upon us like a dentist’s appointment. You always know it’s soon but you are still surprised when it’s near you, like you don’t expect it.

But unlike a dentist’s appointment I love this feeling. I packed my clothes. Looked at the watch. The date says 17th. Are you serious? Two more days? I’m ready to go, and time seems to have stopped completely. What makes this day far more special is that I am completely unaware of what awaits us ahead. Days like the ones t come will probably change our lives forever.

What if we make the best documentary the world has ever seen? What if we stumble upon something groundbreaking? We could probably win the competition and end up on an international trip. Why can’t we?

Look at our group. If you see us outside we’d probably be the one’s you’d not sit on a table at lunch with. What makes us different is the fact that we are different, in our own ways. I guess we will discover it when we find ourselves elbow to elbow in Cochin.

Might it be Adi’s cool head that will keep me calm at all times or Anish’s constant smile and “let’s get it done” attitude, Priyal’s willing to take on anything charm or Apurva’s amazing rapport with the mallu Accent, Aditi’s great working in a team and getting the job done mannerisms or Tanvi’s ideas for working. Even Arushi’s constant smile and great working skills will make us succeed. Each one of us has a thing to add to the table. Like they say:
when we have lemons, let’s make lemonade.

So here’s to all our competition, to all those who thought we’d not be a team, to those who make us different, to those who make us believe everyday that there is but ourselves to thank in what we are and what we do: Thanks. Thanks for making us realise how hard we can work as ourselves and thanks because we can be what we want to be as ourselves. No one will tell us what to do. We work individually as a group.
Like they say:
We will because we can. Let’s show them what we can and then we will enjoy proving it to ourselves and show ourselves what we are worthy and capable of. So I say we finally pack those dusty shoes and find new dust to put in those laces and new footprints in sands unknown.
